Are you thinking it's "too big" an issue to ever get better?
The right kind of therapy can be a powerful catalyst for healing. Even lifelong struggles.
Together we can create a space where
Healing Is Possible.
Whether you're struggling with questions of identity, life transition, coping with grief and loss, stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, substance abuse, or other compulsivity...
We can create your path toward healing.
I am an LGBT-affirmative therapist and I provide LGBT Affirming Therapy Services in Costa Mesa and Los Alamitos, CA. It's not your sexual orientation that's a problem. The problem is stigma, oppression and judgement projected onto LGBT people. Sometimes the least safe place can be in your own family, not to mention the culture. And, LGBT people struggle with many of the same issues as everyone else.
My office is a Safe Zone. 🏳️🌈
I created a video series called OUT & INformed, about issues in the LGBT Community. If you want to check them out, click the link below.
I work with many people recovering from addictions as well as their families and loved ones. And recovery from co-dependency and emotional sobriety are as important as recovery from substances; or compulsivity with sex, porn, food, gambling or love. You may have just completed a treatment program and now you are sober. Let's work on the underlying issues that you were trying to self-medicate, so they don't continue to rob you of happiness and threaten your sobriety.
Recovery is Possible.
If you have questioned whether you're gay then this e-book is right for you. It asks the top 4 questions and Jim Brillon explains some of the mixed feelings you may experience; from attraction to curiosity and everything in between. These 4 powerful questions may help you understand your sexuality and preferences and embrace who you are, inside and out.
I know it takes courage for a man in our culture to walk into a therapist's office and admit he needs help. From the time we are boys, we are taught to deny and suppress our feelings so it's no wonder many men are lost when it comes to understanding and expressing emotion. And these are the keys to healthy, long-lasting relationships. The traditional role for men is to be an invulnerable performer.
And neither of these roles breed intimacy.
If you want more, if you want to learn how to be more empathic and connected and able to be vulnerable so your relationships can thrive,
give me a call.
Depression, fear, shame and anxiety can take control over your life. Some of the ways we learn to cope with these often makes things worse. Cycles of obsession, hopelessness and isolation can destroy lives. With the right kind of help, you can rediscover YOU, and your motivation, perspective, and joy and live a life you love.
Trauma impacts people's lives in subtle and profound ways. It can shatter lives. AND it's possible to overcome trauma, even the trauma of growing up in dysfunction, disconnection or abuse.
"Big T" Traumas like war, life threat or violence can lead to PTSD.
"Small t" trauma, like growing up in chronic fear, helplessness, humiliation, shame or abandonment can affect development of the nervous system and personality.
Healing is Possible.
I am trained in EMDR, an evidence-based trauma resolution therapy that is shown to help people overcome traumatic memories and alleviate suffering. Read more about this on my EMDR page.
Healthy relationship is a struggle for many people. Many factors including trauma, fear, attachment and your family of origin can affect your abiity to remain present, loving and connected. And shame makes it difficult to love yourself or to let love in. The right kind of counseling can help you deepen emotional connections across all of your relationships, including with yourself.
I am an LGBT-affirmative therapist.
