Affirmative therapy aims to benefit people with non-normative orientations through embracing a positive view of the whole person. It identifies the root causes of suffering while consciously embracing the multiple intersectional identities in a person’s life.

EMDR therapy seeks to bring your brain back to a state of healing itself from trauma which also tends to make this a good option for children and teens: not just adults. For many clients, EMDR therapy can be completed in fewer sessions than other psychotherapies.

Couples can learn to connect more deeply, communicate their needs in healthy ways, to listen and validate each other, and understand what is going on beneath the noise and discord. We will create a space where you will feel welcomed, accepted and safe. we will identify your goals and needs and how we can work together to help you achieve them.

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy or CBT is among the most effective therapies as it generates quick results. CBT is an evidence-based psychotherapeutic treatment to address multiple mental health issues. including anxiety, depression, addiction problems, marital issues, and eating disorders to name a few. CBT helps people to understand the connections between their thoughts, feelings and behaviors and how to restructure and change them.

Bring your Biggest Issues

Whether you’re struggling with questions of identity, life transition, coping with grief and loss, stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, substance abuse, or other compulsivity…

We can create your path toward healing.

Are you thinking it’s “too big” an issue to ever get better?

The right kind of therapy can be a powerful catalyst for healing.

Even lifelong struggles.

Together we can create a space where

Healing Is Possible.

Addictions and Compulsivity

I work with many people recovering from addictions as well as their families and loved ones. And recovery from co-dependency and emotional sobriety are as important as recovery from substances; or compulsivity with sex, porn, food, gambling or love. You may have just completed a treatment program and now you are sober. Let’s work on the underlying issues that you were trying to self-medicate, so they don’t continue to rob you of happiness and threaten your sobriety.

Depression & Anxiety

Depression, fear, shame and anxiety can take control over your life. Some of the ways we learn to cope with these often makes things worse. Cycles of obsession, hopelessness and isolation can destroy lives. With the right kind of help, you can rediscover YOU, and your motivation, perspective, and joy and live a life you love.

Trauma, PTSD & EMDR

Trauma impacts people’s lives in subtle and profound ways. It can shatter lives. AND it’s possible to overcome trauma, even the trauma of growing up in dysfunction, disconnection or abuse.

  • Shock Trauma (PTSD)
  • Complex trauma
  • Developmental trauma
  • Attachment Trauma

Relationships and Attachment

Healthy relationship is a struggle for many people. Many factors including trauma, fear, attachment and your family of origin can affect your abiity to remain present, loving and connected. And shame makes it difficult to love yourself or to let love in. Often, relationship problems are driven by attachment issues. This is a special focus of my practice. The right kind of counseling can help you deepen emotional connections across all of your relationships, including with yourself.

I work with Men and Men's Issues

I know it takes courage for a man in our culture to walk into a therapist’s office and admit he needs help. From the time we are boys, we are taught to deny and suppress our feelings so it’s no wonder many men are lost when it comes to understanding and expressing emotion. And these are the keys to healthy, long-lasting relationships. The traditional role for men is to be an invulnerable performer.

And neither of these roles breed intimacy.

If you want more, if you want to learn how to be more empathic and connected and able to be vulnerable so your relationships can thrive,

give me a call.

Some Common Questions

I do not accept insurance, though I can provide you a superbill for insurance reimbursement, and I do so for many of my clients.

If you have a PPO type insurance plan, your insurance provider will reimburse generally 50-90% of your fees depending on your coverage and if you have met your deductible.

Every plan is different, so contact your insurance company and ask about working with an “out of network therapist”.

In some cases, the cost after reimbursement is similar to your copayment.

Yes, the relationship between a therapist and client is privileged and protected by law. So what is said in my office, stays in my office.

My fee is $200.

I CAN PROVIDE YOU A SUPER-BILL FOR INSURANCE REIMBURSEMENT.
